What does ‘repair’, ‘re-built’, ‘re-man’ or ‘re-manufactured’ transmission mean?
The true definitions of these terms and what some businesses claim about their units are not always the same.

‘Repair’ means that a unit is opened and a particular part replaced, but nothing else serviced.

‘Re-built’ typically means that a unit is opened and all damaged parts are replaced, as well as select excessively worn parts normally associated with eventual failure.

‘Re-man’ or ‘Re-manufactured’ typically means that a unit is opened and all main bearings, synchronizer rings, input shaft, main gears, forks, bushings, small parts, etc. are replaced.

When my transmission is being replaced, what else should be done to my vehicle?
The clutch assembly may need to be replaced, as well as the pilot bearing/bushing and slave cylinder.
